This isn't the typical gangster movie. If it were, it would be more watchable. John Travolta plays Chili Palmer, a loan-sharking mobster who ends up becoming interested in, and delving into movie production after going to Hollywood to collect a debt from a movie producer and finding himself intrigued by the filmmaking process.
This film attempts to satire the absurdities of Hollywood, more specifically, the resemblance of movie producers to Mafioso types. The result? An incredibly boring movie with a stupid premise that satirized itself more than Hollywood or the Mafia.
