Review of Get Santa (2014) by Retromagfan . — 15 Dec 2014
Get Santa may sound like your average Crimbo comedy however it's actually a good one too. In this Santa needs some help from a father and his son, he's been locked up in prison and must break out to deliver presents otherwise Christmas will be a thing of the past.
Get Santa is a rather likeable Christmas comedy even though some of the jokes aren't that funny. I cared more about the story though with the film being like The Great Escape but with Santa in prison and during Christmas time.
The jokes however are a mixed bag, some jokes are funny (Warwick Davis's hilarious fight with a policeman) and some aren't (the reindeer farting).
When they go down the hole where the presents are and into the Elf land the visual effects for that scene is very fantastic and brilliantly done.
The casting is top dog with Jim Broadbent playing Santa (his second time of playing him as he played him in Arthur Christmas) and Warwick Davis as a elf who both of them do really good. The other actors are fantastic too.
Therefore Get Santa is truly a great comedy, it starts up normal then gets even better. It may not be the best Christmas film ever but trust me, it's better then Nativity 3. If you are a fan of Christmas comedies or films then do give this film a go.
