Review of Get Real (2009) by Brandon K — 12 May 2009

For me, this was the BEST coming of age gay teen melodrama. It's one that I think every gay youth can instantly relate to and goes a long way to explain to our straight friends exactly what it was like growing up feeling like a bit of an outcast. Superbly acted with a tenderness and respect for the characters that sometimes is missed in these genre movies. I remember forcibly making people watch this movie to help "get" what it felt like for me as a kid. Oh, and Aretha is blasting on the radio at the end of the film, how can that be wrong?
