Review of Get Out (2017) by Fiona P — 03 Mar 2018
I personally appreciate the awkward white people scenes but beyond this, I found the film to be very predictable. The approach initially seemed somewhat original but perhaps I have been corrupted by other twist endings from other films, such as Saw or Sixth Sense.
This film lacked any real twists but I did appreciate the humour added by his protagonists best friend, the T. S. A. officer. The cast was extremely strong in their character portrayals, especially the maid, who by just smiling, appeared to be very creepy.
This had some entertainment value but I would not nominate it as Oscar worthy like many others. For those who appreciate the horror genre I might recommend this, but I would never put this in the same class as the Exorcist or Jaws.
To each their own.
