Review of Get Out (2017) by Tal G — 08 Apr 2018
An all around well crafted movie. Very tense, eerie, subtly unsettling. The soundtrack was spot on for the kind of tension they were going for. The visuals were nice and clean, visually pleasing. Really well played by the main actor. Rose's family acted pretty well. Nothing outstanding though.
Unfortunately I got spoiled. I didn't believe it at the time simply because it sounded so far fetched and insane to me, so I just waved it off as a dumb made up synopsis someone wrote up for attention. Turns out he was posting the truth... Bummer for me. It really deflated the whole WOW factor I'd probably feel if it wasn't spoiled for me.
So, it was an incredibly interesting and unique take on this sort of 'racial horror' we had here. Props to Jordan Peele for thinking this up.
The scene near the end where the police car shows up was admittedly brilliant. We all know what we thought was gonna happen.
Very enjoyable.
