Review of Get Out (2017) by Fknrat — 08 Mar 2017
An unconventional thriller/horror that favors the perspective of a black man, which is rare in this genre. Do yourself a favor and avoid any and all trailers for this film, as they are inexplicably edited to give away key beats from the plot.
Go into the film clean and with no prior knowledge or expectations. Fine performances and a perfectly eerie, unsettling atmosphere throughout. One of the best thrillers/horror films I've seen in a while, putting it up there with It Follows and The Witch in terms of great horror/horror-ish movies with a subtle build, relying on atmosphere and performance over spectacle and gore.
