Review of Get Out (2017) by Avodeskorm — 27 Feb 2017
Probably one of the only good movies that will come out this year. My main problem with this movie is that although it is unconventional in many ways (and what's there is good), a few scenes make it seem way too conventional. For example, some scenes and characters seem more like they belong in a trashy Melissa McCarthy or Kevin Hart movie. However, the writing is exceptional when the comedy and horror aspects are blended together. The amount of fridge horror/brilliance is terrifying, ingenious, and hilarious to look back on.
The premise is quite absurd thinking about it from a different perspective (as is recognized by the movie itself), but somehow Get Out makes it work.
The trailers give too much away however, and it is best going in blind or you'll be able to guess what will happen in some scenes once you gain context. Though it isn't going to going to ruin the major twists.
