Review of Get Out (2017) by Nsquires76 — 14 Mar 2017
This is a film, unlike anything we've seen in recent memory. First time director and skit comedy legend Jordan Peele delivers a thrilling, suspenseful, and thought-provoking piece of artwork for his debut film.
Whether it is the soulful moody music of Donald Glover's Redbone that help set the scene, to the emblematic awkwardness of meeting your significant other's parents for the first time. This artwork explores how our most vulnerable past experiences have shaped who we are, how cultural disconnect in race can make even the simplest of interactions more complicated than needed.
But most importantly how we view black in America. This film challenges you to think about what your sunken place is because it is different everyone. Because Chris' sunken place only looked liked he was watching tv because in the most helpless point of his life Chris was watching tv.
So if you want a film that isn't afraid to push to you to the edge and make you feel a little uncomfortable then 'Get Out' might the film for you.
