Interesting that there is any ambiguity as to whether the movie is horror or comedy. As a white person I was most certainly horrified, but according to actress Allison Williams, black people find it 'hilarious' (in an interview with.
Seth Myers). But that is probably the mark of a great film, that it can mean many different things to different people.
