Review of Get Out (2017) by William T — 13 Nov 2017
Not the worst movie I have ever seen, but also not the best either. The cast does a good job and the movie I will admit does have an interesting premise. Watching this I was reminded of the 1960 French horror film "Eyes Without a Face" since "get Out" basically borrows the French film's basic idea.
While I did not hate the movie it was hurt by some formulaic plot devices and some glaring factual errors. The scene where Chris' friend reports his suspicions to police and the police just laugh at him, was the best example.
Since there is a kidnapping involved, police are required to look into it regardless of whether or not they think it's true. Not doing so could lead to serious repercussions such as civil and even criminal lawsuits.
Also, I doubt TSA has that much power. In the end, the interesting premise and the solid performances make "get Out" good, but not great.
