Review of Get Out (2017) by Grace E — 14 May 2017
One thing I really liked about 'Get Out' was what I call a porous metaphor. You can feel 'what it's about' in terms of subtext but there's plenty of wriggle room and not every line or action is welded into the underlying idea; it leaves you some loose ends to think about after it's over.
The general sense of unease and 'imposter syndrome' is masterfully built up. A smart, elegant horror to rate alongside 'The Babadook' and 'It Follows.'.
