Review of Get Out (2017) by Danny P — 03 Jul 2017

I am not a fan of the horror genre, but this is my favorite movie I've seen over the past year or so, and a true work of genius from Jordan Peele. It stuck with me for days after watching it. Its one of those precious rare films that grows richer the more time you spend thinking about it, and the deeper you dive into it. There is so much going on in this movie, that it would easy for it to feel chaotic and muddled. But Peele manages to fit everything together perfectly, and the film is all the better for it. It was incredible.

While generally listed as either a "horror" or "horror-comedy" film, I much prefer Peele's label of "social thriller." If you want an exciting, well-crafted film that makes you think, this one is for you.
