The depiction of Brown as a loner and an outspoken, sometimes shrewd, but always socially conscious prodigy is brought to stunning life by Chadwick Boseman. He, Viola Davis and Nelsan Ellis are phenomenal, as is the stylized editing/ narrative style.
Get On Up is a nice step away from the normal biopic. Brown is realized as a genius- his dialogue paints him as a street wise prophet of music and understated philosophy, which the narrative style helps the audience relate to and understand better than ever.
