Boseman gives an award caliber performance in an otherwise bad movie. Having James Brown as a subject should have made for a great biopic. Instead of respecting the source material, the filmmakers pile on the clichés and jump around in time in a gimmicky fashion.
If not for the stellar performance and the great music, this movie would've been unbearable.
