Review of Get On Up (2014) by Amanda H — 07 Feb 2015
I'm not a James Brown fan, so I probably didn't appreciate the music aspect of this as much as I could have. The first half was pretty intriguing and very well-acted, and Nelsan Ellis gave his best performance to date.
In the second half, though, it turned into a recreated James Brown concert with a little plot scattered here and there, and I rapidly lost interest. If you're a fan of his music, though, you will definitely enjoy this thoroughly.
