It mostly follows your paint-by-numbers bio pic and is more concerned about cramming in all the dramatic hardships in certain periods of James Brown's life rather than focusing on his journey as a person.
The music sounds great and is really the most exciting part of the movie. Chadwick Boseman is also a great part of bringing the unique characteristics of James Brown to life. I just wish it didn't stick to such a typical bio pic trend.
