Review of Get On Up (2014) by Movie E — 03 Aug 2014
Get On Up.
This tells the life of james brown, and all of the struggles he went through, like friendship. And staying out of trouble. But it also shows Awesome James Brown music that you can't help but tap your feet to.
Now I am going to go ahead and say that this isn't your typical movie.
It is not told from beginning to end.
But the only question is, DOES it work?
And the answer is yes.
The original film making by Tate Taylor is enough to love this movie, but also Chadwick Boseman's performance, that carried the whole movie.
Honestly, if this guy doesn't get an oscar for this, then I don't know who would.
This movie never runs into any traps, cliches, or plot holes In any way.
But unfortunately gets dragged on through the halfway mark, when there are countless scenes of characters telling you what was going on.
As much as I like the pacing and the respect of the audience, the movie took turns in the middle that just didn't work.
But words could not describe how good this movie is, so all I could say is that.
Get On Up.
Is freaking amazing and deserves:
4/5 stars.
