Review of Get On Up (2014) by Bruce B — 05 Aug 2014
I like James Brown and I love his music. Infact that he is one example that from is band music led me to playing the keyboards. I am not as good as they are but I am learning, Chadwick Boseman play a really nice version of James and should be commended for it.
Tika Sumpter was super sexy in this movie. But not much of a part for her to bad, The movie move in and out of past and present life,, and that was ok. The movie moved and it seemed like 4 minutes long.
Good movie. Although from movies like Whats Love Got To Do With it ,, the Tina Turner movie and this movie, they are similar in the fact, the husband is always abusive towards the wife. I think that deturts from a feel good movie like the Tina Turner movie and this movie.
I go to celbrate James Brown, not watch him get beat up, than knock the piss out his wifes.. and I went to celebrate Tina Turner,, not to watch ICk beat her to death. No wonder she said she didnt want to see the movie,, she already lived it.
So Hollywood,, create a feel good movie about a legend,,, I dont need to know the dirty part of their lives.
