Review of Get Low (2010) by Joe A — 15 Mar 2011
Offbeat indie film is highlighted by another great characterization from the legendary Robert Duvall with great support from Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek and the rest of the fine cast. Story of a reclusive old curmudgeon who stages his own funeral while he is still alive so he can be there, is a quiet drama with a sly humor and subtle charm that makes it an enjoyable and engaging tale.
It's one of those movies where the character is the film and Duvall makes him real, three dimensional and interesting enough to keep you watching. Not a great movie but, a good one with a great actor doing what he does best.
