Review of Get Him to the Greek (2010) by Mike A — 30 Sep 2011
Here's perhaps on of the funniest spin-offs you'll ever see. Jonah Hill is the most unlikely straight man, but he nails the role of "Aaron Green" the naive record company intern, with awkward brilliance.
Russell Brand as "Aldous Snow" the rock-god, makes the story sing (no pun intended) with his confidence and believability. Sure there's some dry moments, but the laughs came through good scene setups and clever one-liners.
Screenwriter Nicholas Stoller deserves props for his original dialog. This also made Jason Segel's polar-opposite characters fun to watch while colliding on screen. I had my doubts that the "Sarah Marshall" spin-off film would entertain past the first few scenes, but I was glad to be wrong.
And get this! Sean Combs almost steals a couple of scenes. All said, it's a fun way to swallow a "Life's meaning" quest in with a "rock-star drug binge". The ride was fun. Oh, if you haven't seen it, hang around until after the credits for Sean Combs' words of inspiration.
