Review of Get Him to the Greek (2010) by Kenneth H — 11 Nov 2011
"Get Him to the Greek" is the latest installment from the guys over at APATOW PRODUCTIONS, it is also probably one of their strongest films to date. This is Nicolas Stoller's second film, and he shows absolutely none of the symptoms that new directors seem to show in their films.
It was nice to see Jonah Hill in another one of these films in a starring role. The last few films that he had done with the group were more of cameo roles. Russell Brand is BACK as the drug using, rock-n-rolling, sex maniac rock star Aldus Show from the 2008 film "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and he knocks it out of the park.
I haven't seen a funnier film this year. From start to finish, this film just delivers laugh after laugh while being extremely endearing and lovable. Sean "Diddy" Combs comes out of no where as one of the funniest men in this film.
With seasoned comedy vets like Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, I was actually quite amazed that they weren't the only ones giving me the funny. This entire film is topped off with an excellent cameo from Kristen Bell as Sarah Marshall, and a soundtrack that is almost all INFANT SORROW!!! That really made the film work was most of the background music was Russell Brand singing with the movie band, Infant Sorrow.
"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is my favorite APATOW PRODUCTIONS film, and while I don't feel "Get Him to the Greek" is as strong as it is, it's still an excellent film that is worth everyone's attention, especially if you are a fan of APATOW PRODUCTIONS!!!
