Review of Get Him to the Greek (2010) by Grant H — 04 Feb 2012
Get him to the Greek reunites Jonah Hill and Russell Brand in this spin off of the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". Jonah Hill stars as a record intern who must get out-of-control British rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) to the L.A. Greek theater. In my opinion, Russell Brand stole the show in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", and in this film he is even funnier. This film is flat out hilarious and works because Brand's is crude and funny, but we see a sense of humanity in him. This prevents the character from becoming flat. Plus Hill and Brand have good chemistry and good comedic timing.
Sean Combs (P. Diddy) steals the show as the demanding CEO of Snow's record label. The film highlights his comedic talents and proves that he could have a career in the film industry. However, the movie is very vulgar. It definitely has more risque material than Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The movie is loud, crude, and dumb fun and it never lets up. This is also a weakness because some people may find it too crude and totally ridiculous.
The film is juvenile, but just like Hot Tub Time Machine, it's so stupid that it is very funny and entertaining. So far this is the funniest film of the year, if you can stand the gross out humor.
