Review of Get Him to the Greek (2010) by Jesse B — 02 Apr 2012
In Hollywood, Absurdity is an art form, and comedies these days are always trying to hit the mark. Few actually achieve it though and even less go beyond. This is one of those that actually comes close.
Brazen no doubt, "get him to the Greek' is Yet another movie that glamorizes Vegas, and that oh so desirable Rock star lifestyle. The story is about a music talent agent / manager trying to keep his assignment under control and on schedule. What proceeds is one disaster after the next as the agent soon discovers hes in for a lot more than he expected. However the movie turns out to be more than just that.
Its a daring character piece, somewhat charming in a male bonding type of way. The chaos of the movie is not without its meaningful moments. Yah it is mostly a rollercoaster ride through out but if you pay attention, there is a little bit of morality and sincereity mixed in.
Pretty much every film tries to add this without sounding preachy but so often they're a miserably contrived failure. I felt different about this movie, it had personality and even direction.
Can't complain that much. Its a rather decent Comedy. Who would have guessed?
