Review of Get Him to the Greek (2010) by Gina E — 02 Sep 2012
Get him to the Greek is another Judd Apatow project directed by Nicholas Stoller so there is a definite formula here in terms of laughs. Russell Brand is Aldous "the has been rock star", Jonah Hill is Aaron the record co intern that has to get him from the UK to The Greek theatre in LA. Hilarity ensues as Aaron has to battle Aldous's drug problem, insecurities and general rock star madness as they travel and party across the world.
This is kinda like the movie of the "photos" at the end of "The Hangover". Really well cast and oddly enough, Sean" Diddy" Combs is the break out star in this movie as the intimidating record rep. I know it's not a stretch for him but he really nails it. Lots of add-libbed laugh out loud moments and lots of stuff that pushes the gross envelope.
My only real issue is that they tried to wrap the story in a little moral message which is totally unnecessary. It's not a laugh a minute and the humour isn't for everyone but if you like "Forgetting Sarah Marshal, Superbad and Zack and Miri Make a Porno" you'll really dig this.
"When life hands you a Jeffrey, Rub the Furry wall".
