Review of Get Him to the Greek (2010) by Tuhin G — 17 May 2013
Get Him To The Greek sent a lot of mixed messages to me. It was too dramatic to be classified as a comedy, I thought. That peeved me. But, the funny dialogues contained are very quotable and enjoyable.
Every situation is also quite sexual, which I personally enjoy a lot. So, as a comedy, it is disappointing overall. However, it has a very good message; in a world that demands so much from a celebrity who admits to feeling alone, all he needs is one good friend.
Nevertheless, that got me thinking to why it takes adults of their age so long to figure out what they want in life and how they want to lead it. Look at Aldous and Jackie, for example. They have a kid together, but they still go out and get with whoever and continue to do hard drugs.
And then come Aaron and Daphne: they can't communicate properly. Don't think you will be blown away at the end or mesmerized for the duration of the film because you simply won't. One of the best things about the movie was the music.
It was quite catchy and had, of course, very sexual but relatable lyrics. Another thumbs up is the high quality acting and embodiment of the actors of their characters. Watched 05/17/2013, written 05/18/2013.
