Review of Get a Job (2016) by Requis M — 06 Jul 2016
This movie was filmed in 2012, but not released till this year, 2016. I can honestly say that I'm glad it came out. This movie is filled with big name actors. Miles Teller gives a performance that's not incredibly memorable, but it works.
Anna Kendrick is underused, but fine when she's on screen. Teller's friends are all people you have seen before, and there all fine. They were more thrown into the movie than they were supporting characters.
The characters were unique enough. But their nothing too special. Frequently throughout, I felt like they did some sneaky editing, maybe to cut out stuff that was better for 2012 than 2016. Not to say the editing is bad, it just sometimes seemed like scenes were cut short.
It wasn't hilarious, but had its moments. But the writing is one of the big standouts because some of it is so brilliant! There are a lot of statements said in the script that are very true. And a lot of statements that when you hear them, you realize how true they are.
This movie is filled with good enough performances from a plethora of big name actors, directing that really worked for me, and writing that is very inspirational with some laughs. It's not that great of a movie, but for what it is, it's pretty good.
I would definitely want to see this again, at least once.
