I read about this awhile ago. The concept of using archival recordings of Walt Disney himself to voice Mickey Mouse again, as well as having Minnie and Peg-Leg Pete partially voiced with archival clips appealed to me.

Mixing the old-fashioned style black and white animation with CGI 3-D styled animation was clever. Having the characters break out of the confines of the black and white screen could have been applied to a better storyline.

To a certain extent, the zany nature of the chaotic adventure does pay homage to old Disney and Warner Brothers cartoon flicks, but the action then gets repetitive and mean-spirited.
