A starkly beautiful, brutally uncompromising masterpiece, the best of Van Sant's death trilogy, and one of the best films I have ever seen. I've been waiting several years to see this and it was worth every second.
The penultimate "scene" where the two Gerrys shuffle painfully across the salt-flats at dawn is the single most beautiful and shocking piece of cinema I'm yet to experience, right up there with 2001's stargate sequence for sheer awe-inspiring artistry.
Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
