Review of Geostorm (2017) by Dawn N — 27 Oct 2017
I don't know why everyone is pouring scorn on Geostorm. I enjoyed it. It's a disaster movie - things got smashed up. But they had build the story first people not smash things in the first 5 minutes!! There were good scenes in it.
I get bored with a whole lot of explosion and special effects scenes one after the other so I'm glad people actually spoke to each other. Great to see Abbie Cornish's character kick some ass! The little daughter is astonishingly good and I'm sure she will go onto to star in future movies.
It was certainly no worse than all the other disaster movies I've seen. They are just escapist movies not heavy Oscar level movies. I think everyone is just jumping on the 'it will lose $100million' bandwagon and they haven't even seen it.
It's like there's a vendetta against it. It had great visuals! Characters had relationships (as much as can be expected in this genre). I recommend it.
