Review of Georgia Rule (2007) by Nicholas F — 24 Mar 2009
Most of the times ambitious movies are stymied by their lack of budget to get the effects to look as good as the quality of the acting and story or to get the location or the number of days in to necessary to get all the shots the director envisions is necessary to complete the film.
It is quite the opposite with this film. Georgia Rule is a very good idea that is suffocated by the Hollywood-ism, robbing the story of the gritty and raw feel that it needs to connect with its audience.
Imagine a Da Vinci done in paint roller. Everything is done in strokes so broad that they missed the fine details that makes an idea like this glow.
