Review of Georgia Rule (2007) by Sherlanda F — 02 Jan 2009
I am very concerned about some of these negative reviews. What on earth do you want from a movie about the lives a three women? Key word being LIVES. The character Rachel spends a summer in a town she does not know anyone in, and you people really expect nothing comedic to occur? Get real! Yes, she gets molested. But does that mean she is suppose to sit in a dark corner for the entire time? Of course not. Rachel is a SURVIVOR. Did you miss her conversation with Simon at the 4th of July picnic? Guess so.
Plenty of movies are dramatic and have depressing content, but still have some hint of comedy. Titanic, Mona Lisa Smile, Stepmom, the list goes on and on. I think that most of you are being ridiculous about this movie solely because you dislike Lindsay Lohan. Please push being biased aside before you ruin movies for someone else.
Also, I noticed a comment saying that Rachel's sexual behavior makes us start to 'blame' her for what happened to her. Oh please! She obviously became promiscuous as a result of being womanized and abused by the only adult male she has known. I am not a director, professional writer, or a professional critic, but I know one thing is for sure: This is a great movie.
