Review of George of the Jungle 2 (2003) by Rick E — 05 Jun 2004
When will Disney realize in order to successfully cash in on the success of a previous film, the sequel must be at least as good or better than the first? George of the Jungle 2 is as poorly conceived as sequels come, filled with tired jokes that ceased being funny sometime around the advent of the wheel, a ridiculously inane script whose plots holes my 10-year old could see through, and the horrible acting of Chris Showerman whose casting appeal seems to have been based solely on his ability to look good in a loincloth.
Worst of all were the CGI effects incorporated into the film, which could not have been any more obvious save they actually had the words "computer effect" superimposed over them. While my kids found George of the Jungle 2 somewhat enjoyable - particularly the requisite flatulence joke that seems to be scripted into every family film of the past 10 years - Dad found the film to be as simple-minded as the central character himself and a waste of 90 minutes that might have been better spent watching the grass grow.
