Review of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) by Ken B — 31 Jul 2009
Let me kick this off by saying that I am not a huge fan of musicals. Okay, not a fan at all, really. So that probably disqualifies me from reviewing this film with any objectivity. So I wont even try to be objective, how 'bout that?
Take away Monroe's undeniably mesmerizing act and Russel's curves and you've got just another unimaginative, unbelievable, and contrived 1950s production. Thank god Monroe and Russel were in it! At least there's some eye-candy to keep me from feeling completely insulted and bored. So this film gets some bonus points for the curves present, which are the only things this movie has going for it.
