Review of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) by Jason J — 26 May 2010
Oneof those movies I like watching more for the surface pleasures, for the real "50s" sensibility, more than the actual story. While this should be damning of Hawks, who is always a storyteller first, there's a lot of spunk and fun from his two leads (Monroe is probably sexier, Russell the better actress), and the script is especially sharp for this kind of fluffy, bubbly stuff.
Just the sight of that little kid in scenes is a minor riot.
