Review of Gentlemen Broncos (2009) by Connie M — 27 Oct 2009
Hmmm.. another coming-of-age Jared Hess movie that screams in every aspect "I am quirky, weird and too hip for my own good".
I personally could not connect with any of the cast and the fact that for 90 minutes, you are not looking at even a half-decent face is sad. Although Jemaine Clement (as Victor Chavalier) deserves some props.
It is not that bad of a movie... yet it can not be recommended to any one (especially with a full ticket price).
Ps. this one features one of the grossest kisses in the entire movie history (the whole audience were cringing for quite some time) Be sure you are not eating anything by that point.
Ps2. I wish we had more of the Sam Rockwell-led movie inside movie.
(especially the modified one with the tranny) as weird as it was , it was pretty hilarious.
Ps3. although completely coincidental (with no prior intention as the director suggested himself), the "Moon" nod is pretty funny.
Ps4. the VFX work, as cheesy as they were, based on the budget they were made of, was surprisingly solid.
