Review of Gentlemen Broncos (2009) by Tasha B — 06 Nov 2009
This film dares to be different. I lament the fact that fox searchlight has tanked this movie before it even had a true release by cowering before critics and staggering its release.
Jared and Jerusha Hess should get more credit than they do for coming up with films that carry on in the Spirit of Napoleon Dynamite while not merely repeating it.
In this film they question the conventions of the film industry and its continual barrage of "believable" stories and characters. The lesson, to some extent, is that believable is not only not always real but not always the most interesting either.
The film is definitely worth watching, and when you go to it, make sure to sit through the credits for a bizarre little nugget at the end.
