I would say 75% of the people I know would hate this movie, but I really liked it. I like Jared Hess' ongoing theme that he has restated 3 times now in Napolean Dynamite, Nacho Libre, and now Gentlemen Broncos which is this: No matter how weird you or your friends are, you can dream big and make it.
With all the messages out there for kids that say you have to be gorgeous and cool and whatnot, it is nice to meet some awfully weird people, laugh at them, and then cheer for them.
