At the very least, this made me want to investigate the writings of Thomas Wolfe. The passages from his book, read aloud, were pure poetry. That being said, the movie itself was lackluster...but not altogether bad.
Nicole Kidman was the exception here, her role was almost a peripheral one, yet her presence seemed the most magnetic when on the screen.
