Review of Genius (2016) by Miriam S — 09 Jan 2017
Surprised by the low ratings. II found this film to be engaging, well written, well acted and directed. It perfectly evoked the time period and brought to life a piece of literary history that illuminated the deep connections between a writer and editor.
Fascinating in depth character studies of twentieth century writer Thomas Wolfe and his editor Max Perkins. Context included the interactions of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, two more authors edited by Max Perkins.
The acting, screenplay, direction and all production values were top notch. Thought provoking movie that brings to life a set of relationships not before explored in films. I strongly disagree with the low averages of the ratings.
This movie is excellent and well worth seeing.
