What I loved about this piece is the twist in the narrative where masterful filmmaker Lauren Greenfield ("Like a Girl" - so great) puts a bit of her own obsession in the spotlight. There is no last act bombshell in this doc but it left me thinking, as a person who doesn't see my kids often enough and who makes career a top priority, about the price of my own obsession.
Anyway it was interesting, touching and revealing. My stepdaughter does not have a job or many friends and what she wants, more than anything in the world, is a thousand dollar pair of balenciaga sneakers.
Generation wealth? Anyway this piece really worked for me.
