Review of Gemini Man (2019) by Umaumai — 28 Jan 2020
This is a some what interesting movie that might have gotten a higher critical rating if it didn’t give away all the more then interesting plot points in the trailers. It has some great action sequences, but it falls very short in the visual effects department especially when Smith is on screen with himself.
I like most of the concepts this story puts out and it fits the “fighting back against a government that they used to work for” troupe/genre, but they don’t really build or develop Smith’s “older” character for me to connect with him.
Strangely the more nuanced relationship between the “younger” Smith and his father is actually one of the more interesting parts of the film. It’s too bad that there wasn’t more of that, but that’s what normally gets cut from an action movie to reduce run time.
