Review of Gemini Man (2019) by Dharma — 15 Nov 2019
The biggest problem of this flick is that they spend too much money on this. By indulging Lee's obsession with High Definition cameras, they practically doubled its budget. Kudos also creating an exact digital replica of Smith on screen, which is very impressive let me tell you.
However, the audience didn't care for these so called innovations as Gemini Man's roots is clearly in the 90's. It is by heart a typical Bruckheimer produced, Smith starring action blockbuster template from that era.
Released then, it would have been a bigger hit. Now, its sensibilities felt outdated at best. As such, younger audiences, weaned by the so called 'roller coaster films' of the last years felt no desire to watch this film.
It is a film that should have been sold to Netflix or any other streaming services.
