Review of Gattaca (1997) by Darren K — 07 Jun 2014
Beautiful movie. The acting was engaging and elegant. Visually and stylistically delightful and thoughtful. The backstory suffers from being slightly dated and overly serious / contrived. One can attribute this movie to being way ahead of its time.
Granular genetic discrimination seems much more real in 2014 than in 1996. Very relevant for our times, and beautiful to see the struggle. The combination of Hawke, Law, and Thurman worked well. Thurman was quite lovely as Irene.
