Review of Gate of Flesh (1964) by Billie W — 08 Aug 2009
I had seen Branded To Kill, Tokyo Drifter and Youth Of The Beast and really liked the cool, jazzy, swinging feel to them. But this is a whole new thing Mr Suzuki is offering here! There is seriously sensitive and very ingenious filmmaking going on in Gate Of Flesh, as well as in Story Of A Prostitute, the kind you really learn from.
I strongly suggest not to overlook this film if you're willing to get into Suzuki.
