Review of Gaslight (1944) by John W — 01 Apr 2015
Starring Charles Boyer, Ingrid Bergman and Joseph Cotten. Bergman is superb in this suspenseful story of a woman being driven to the brink of insanity by her manipulative, potentially murderous husband (Boyer).
A young Angela Lansbury (in her film debut) is fine as the housemaid who may (or may not be) in cahoots with Boyer. Cotten provides good support as a detective who suspects Boyer has something to hide and sets out to prove it.
Directed by George Cukor.
