Review of Gasland (2010) by Don W — 06 Apr 2011
Wow, this is up there with any of the best documentaries I have ever seen. I don't really like to say this too often, but this really is a must-see. I imagine most people out there, much like myself, are totally unaware of the effects that Natural Gas drilling is having on our environment.
And this isn't some small issue that affects just a specific few. This is widespread through most of the country. Big time here in Texas, and right in the heart of the tri-state area...the two places where I know the most people.
This is some really scary stuff. And yet another GIGANTIC fuck up right at the feet of brilliant President W, who basically opened the doors for this tidal wave of abuse. The blatant disregard for environmental and human impact from these companies is absolutely staggering.
Seeing tap water go up in flames is completely shocking. A literal boiling stream is maddening. Seeing all these people suffering health problems that were brought into their backyards is appalling. And the "who are you kidding" lying-through-their-teeth congressional testimony is just insulting.
On and on and on. Time to get educated (I know my research on the subject has just begun) and move into action. I challenge anyone to watch this and not feel obligated to do so. Go see it.
