Review of Gasland (2010) by Raymond W — 28 Jun 2011
Josh Fox's Gasland is a startling look at the effect that natural gas drilling, via hydraulic fracturing, is having on the surrounding areas environment and health. The director is able to send a powerful message by successfully juxtaposing the vividly beautiful landscape that the United States has to offer against the ravishing effects that fracking entails.
Josh Fox certainly is not the most objective story teller, and he declines to note what positive effects that utilizing our natural gas resources may bring about, i.e job creation, less dependency on foreign energy.
He still manages to stay away from the raving lunatic on a soapbox image. At its heart Gasland is the manifestation of a desire for more non-bias, non-profit driven oversight. A desire I think we can all understand.
