Garfield The Movie.

Movie Review Written By Hector Fernando Andrade JR. II.

On Sunday June 13 2004 my mom and I went to this movie theather called cinema 7 for the last time before cinema 7 got trun into a Dick's sporting goods to go see Garfield The Movie. Garfield The Movie is a 2004 live-action movie based on the Jim Davis comic strip Garfield. Garfield The Movie was directed by Peter Hewitt, produced by Davis Entertainment for 20th Century Fox, and written by Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow and stars Breckin Meyer as Jon Arbuckle, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Dr. Liz Wilson, and features Bill Murray as the voice of Garfield. In Garfield The Movie Garfield the cat was created with computer-generated imagery, though all other animals were real and so my mom and I got our two Movie tickets and our popcorn and our drinks of Coca-Cola and went into the movie theather of cinema 7 and sat down in our seats with our popcorn and our drinks of Coca-Cola and watched Garfield The Movie.

Story: The story of Garfield The Movie is like the story of Toy Story because Garfield The Movie was written by Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow were the same writters who wrote Toy Story and Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow are also big Garfield fans and I geuss that when they were both hired to write the screenplay of Garfield The Movie they tryed to think of some new ideas for the screenplay of Garfield The Movie but Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow could not think of some new ideas for the screenplay of Garfield The Movie and so Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow both deciited to retell the story of Toy Story in Garfield style with Garfield the cat being Woody the cowboy and Odie the dog being Buzz Lightyear and Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow are scuessful with this idea for the screenplay of Garfield The Movie. The story of Garfield The Movie is based on Toy Story and the book and TV special from the early-'80s, Called "Here Comes Garfield". In it, Odie gets abducted by the dog catcher, and Garfield comes to his rescue. The story of Garfield The Movie goes like this the story of Garfield The Movie takes place in the city of Los Angeles Callifornia. It begins when Garfield, a fat lazy cat wakes up from a good night's sleep and awaits a tasty breakfast. Jon is woken by Garfield with a dogpile. After switching his liver flavored cat food with Jon's corned beef hash, Garfield spots a pie outside on the neighbors window. He tricks the dog Luca in order to get the pie and tangling his leash around many bushes and ceramic ducks. After walking the cul-de-sac, Jon spots a mouse and counts on Garfield to get it. Garfield refuses and Jon runs after the rodent. He than trips and says "What good is it to have a cat, if it can't catch a mouse" Garfield runs outside and catches up to the mouse. Its name is Louis and he was warned by Garfield that he should not run around the house when Jon is home. Jon walks out after Garfield and sees Louis in his mouth. Jon is proud of the tabby cat and when he leaves Garfield spits him out and spares his life, for now. At the telegraph tower, Happy Chapman the star of a Saturday morning show is sick of cats because of his allergies and wishes for a dog star along with him, and to outdo his more successful twin brother Walter J. Chapman, a news anchor. After his show, Jon comes home with some food he bought at the store. Garfield digs out of the lasagna trays and Jon is terribly disappointed. Garfield is brought to the vet, with Jon and is checked out by Liz a nice and attractive veterinarian Physician and is also Jon's high school crush. Jon tries to ask her out when a dog is brought in. His name is Odie and Liz asks Jon to take care of Odie or he will not survive on his own. Garfield comes out of the vet and sees Odie in the car, and Liz ends up asking Jon out. Garfield is not very happy now that a dog is running around the house, sitting in his chair, getting the paper, and sleeping beside Jon when Garfield is not allowed too. Just when things get a bit worse, Liz shows up and Jon comes out with Odie, they leave to go to a dog show, and Garfield chases after them. At the dog show, Liz is a judge and Jon was in the audience, along with Odie. Garfield is spotted by the dogs competing in the show and is chased after them. The music goes on and Odie leaps out of Jon's hands and attempts to dance just as when Garfield was dancing back at the house. The judges are impressed as well as the audience. Garfield succeeds in escaping and Odie is rewarded by Happy Chapman Who Is also a judge He says Odie may have a future in television, but Jon turns it down. When a picture for the news paper is taken, you can see Happy looking at Odie. Garfield hangs on under Liz's truck on the way back, and Jon and Liz plan a dinner on Sunday. Garfield is very angry because Odie got all the attention. He smacks a ball which started a unusual Rube Goldburg contraptions and results to the square selfs above the computer to fall down. Garfield gets kicked out and he watches in the windows how much Jon loves Odie. He sleeps on the porch that night and Odie comes out to comfort him. Garfield is touched, but then hops inside and locks the doggy door, and locks Odie out. and Nermal and Arlene See Odie Trying To Get Back Into The House and Odie runs away and ends up found by a sweet old lady Named Mrs. Baker. When Jon finds out Odie has gone and he feels terrible. After putting up posters around town, and Liz arrives for the dinner, But Jon cancels the dinner and tells Liz about Odie. Jon and Liz than work to together to find Odie. Meanwhile Happy Chapman finds a found poster by Mrs. Baker and knows it is Odie. He takes back Odie and Garfield wacthes T.V. but all that Garfield sees on T.V. is all about dogs and later Garfield finds out that Nermal and Arlene and Luca are mad at Garfield for locking Odie outside last night and later Odie performs on the Happy Chapman show. Garfield sees him and Happy announces that he and Odie are going to New York by train for a big performance. Garfield attempts to show Jon, but the show goes to a Wendy's commercial. Garfield then sets out on a mission to rescue Odie the dog.

And as you can see the story of Garfield The Movie is like the story of Toy Story and and TV special from the early-'80s, Called "Here Comes Garfield" but in my point of view the story of Garfield The Movie is rewarding great and heartwarmly told.

Acting: Garfield The Movie is the first movie I have seen with Breckin Meyer, Bill Murray, Tyler and his sister Chloe the twin dachshund dogs, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Stephen Tobolowsky, Evan Arnold, Mark Christopher Lawrence and Nick Cannon and the fouth movie I have seen with Alan Cumming and the first movie I have seen with David Eigenberg, Brad Garrett, and Debra Messing.

The role of Jon Arbuckle was oringinlly ofered by the Casting Crew members Brennan Dufresne and Risa Bramon Garcia to Jim Carrey but Jim Carrey turned down the role of Jon Arbuckle and the role of Jon Arbuckle was then ofered by the casting crew members Brennan Dufresne and Risa Bramon Garciato to reckin Meyer who acepeted the role of Jon Arbuckle. Breckin Meyer plays the role of Jon Arbuckle who is Garfield and Odie's owner and he is kind of a geek but Garfield lets Jon live with him just the same. Jon is a good friend who keeps Garfield's food dish full and the television cable and satellite bill paid and other than Pooky Garfield's teddy bear and Garfield's mirror Jon is Garfield's best friend in the whole world. Jon's favorite things are Garfield and Jon's model trains sets and Liz the veterinarian and In Garfield The Movie Jon is no longer portrayed as being bad at dating or being a loser or a nerd or a nerdy and clumsy man with very little success in love and an entire romantic life being a series of cancelled or failed dates. In Garfield The Movie Jon Arbuckle is simply a shy guy who has a good relationship with Liz and even knocks-out bully's and mugger's and money snachers and burgler's and robbers and crooks and house intruders and thieves and bad guys and villains in one punch with his powerful right hook hand and in the Garfield comic strips jon has a job of being a cartoonist and woring for an insurance company and being an accountant. Jon's profession is never made entirely clear. Jon somehow manages to make enough money to keep Garfield well fed, which is an amazing feat by itself. He also seems to make enough money to buy new furniture, plants and have repairs done to the house after Garfield or Odie cause mayhem. In Garfield The Movie Jon's career profession job is unknown and in Garfield The Movie Jon drives a green Volvo S60 as opposed to his red sedan in the comics, cartoons, and other media. This also changed in Garfield A Tail of Two Kitties because in Garfield A Tail Of Two Kitties Jon drives a blue Volvo V50.

Director Peter Hewitt and producer John Davis ( no relation to Garfield creator Jim Davis ) wrote a list of the names of actors who could play the voice of Garfield the cat and the frist person that was on the top of their list was Bill Murray. Bill Murray plays a voiceover role as the voice of Garfield the cat who is our hero that feisty felline cat the cat that's all that. you know Garfield! Garfield's favorite food is of couse Lasagna and a few of Garfield's favorite things are a warm bed and the remote control to the T.V. and a full stomach. Garfield's hobbies are napping and snacking and resting and eating and sleeping there maybe more to life but Garfield hopes not and in the Garfield comic strip and Garfield and Friends Garfield is portrayed as an extremely lazy cat, seen mostly sleeping or eating and in Garfield The Movie Bill Murray makes Garfield more active Garfield can be seen dancing, running, jumping, and making a lot of other movement and in Garfield The Movie Garfield's mouth moves when he's talking. In the Garfield comic-strip and In the Saturday morning televison show of Garfield and Friends Garfield verbalizes his thoughts via thought balloons. Despite this, no humans can understand what he says in Garfield The Movie and Bill Murray is a Garfield comic-strip fan and Bill Murray succeeds the late Gerald Lorenzo Dave Music as the voice of Garfield the cat who succeeded Murray as the voice of Peter Venkman in "The Real Ghostbusters" the cartoon continuation of "The Real Ghostbusters" and Bill Murray is perfect to play the voice of Garfield the cat and Bill Murray's voice is similar to the late Gerald Lorenzo Dave Music who died on Saturday August 4th 2001 from complications related to lung and bone cancer at the age of 64 and since his death, Bill Murray generally replaces Gerald Lorenzo Dave Music as the voice of Garfield the Cat in the live-action Garfield Movies Garfield The Movie and Garfield A Tail of Two Kitties and coincidently, Music voiced Murray's character of Doctor Peter Venkman in The Real Ghostbusters and According to an article in Premiere Magazine, much of Bill Murray's recording sessions were done aboard the boat he was occupying while filming The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou in Italy. Apparently, Bill Murray wasn't impressed with the recordings he did while on land.

Tyler and his sister Chloe the twin dachshund dogs both play the role of Odie the dog and what would Garfield say about Odie the dog? Odie the dog is playfull in a silly way and has a carefree outlook and is full of energy. Odie the dog is the new dog that Jon brought home one day and Garfield supposes that there are nicer things to say about Odie the dog. Garfield is just not going to say them and in the Garfield comic-strip Odie the dog was originally owned by Jon?s roomate friend Lyman. Lyman showed up with Odie in tow and Lyman and Odie lived in Jon's and Garfield's house and latter Jon adopted Odie after Lyman had lunch with Jimmy Hoffa and then was written out of the strip after about five years (with the exception of a one-panel cameo appearance in the strip for Garfield's 10th birthday). and in Garfield The Movie Jon got and adopted Odie from Liz in the vet animal veterinarian hospital Center and Liz tells Jon to take care of Odie or he will not survive on his own and in the Garfield comic-Strip Odie is a a yellow, long brown-eared beagle with a black spot on his side who drools and walks on all four legs and in Garfield The Movie Odie is a dachshund dog.

Jennifer Love Hewitt plays the role of Dr. Liz Wilson who is Garfield's personal veterinarian physician who works at the vet animal veterinarian hospital Center and when Liz is not pooking and prodding and inserting things Liz can be pretty nice. Liz is responsible for keeping Garfield in the fine from that drives ladies wild. Liz has been known to call Garfield "Lazy" sometimes but Garfield likes to call it "Deep Thought" Jon does not know it yet but Garfield thinks that Liz likes Jon almost as Jon likes Liz. In the Garfield comic-strip she has somewhat of a deadpan, sardonic persona, she never reacts negatively to Jon's outlandish and goofball behavior, even finding it endearing on occasion. Jon often attempts to ask her out on a date, but rarely succeeds. It Is significantly different from her movie portrayal until July 26, 2006 in which Liz finally admitted she had feelings for him. Liz repels Jon's advances and insisting on keeping the relationship professional and the two have been portrayed as a couple since. In Garfield The Movie Liz is portrayed as Jon's high school crush love interest and another fun fact about Dr. Liz Wilson is that the license plate on Liz's pick-up truck car in Garfield The Movie says and reads "Pet Doc" and that stands for "Pet Doctor".

Stephen Tobolowsky plays the role of Happy Chapman who is a Saturday morning television show host who features house pets on his show called The Happy Chapman Show and unlike his name suggests Happy is not so "happy". Happy Chapman is an angry and bitter and grumpy Man. However Happy does not let his angrynees and bitterness and grumpyness show when he is being a star of a Saturday morning televison show called The Happy Chapman Show and a spokeman for Kibbly Cat Food. When Happy is off the air Happy Chapman is sick of cats because of his allergies and wishes for a dog to star along with him, and to outdo his more successful twin brother Walter J. Chapman who is a news anchor. Happy Chapman is always looking for some way to get ahead no matter who he has to step on to do it. Happy Chapman and his assistant Wendall soon find and kidnap Odie the dog. Happy Chapman is a new character that was only introduced in Garfield The Movie Happy Chapman never apearerd in the Saturday morning televison show of Garfield and Friends or in any of the Garfield comic-strips and the casting for the role of Happy Chapman was a headahe for director Peter Hewitt and producer John Davis ( no relation to Garfield creator Jim Davis ). The headahe for director Peter Hewitt and producer John Davis ( no relation to Garfield creator Jim Davis ) for the casting for the role of Happy Chapman stoped when Stephen Tobolowsky tried out and got the role of Happy Chapman.

Evan Arnold plays the role of Wendall who is Happy Chapman's assistant in the telegraph tower for Happy Chapman's Saturday morning televison show The Happy Chapman Show and for Happy Chapman for being a spokeman for Kibbly Cat Food. Wendall does not like to help Happy Chapman with his plans of getting a dog to star along with him, and to outdo his more successful twin brother Walter J. Chapman who is a news anchor. But Happy Chapman tells Wendall that if he does not help him with his plans and wishes for a dog to star along with him, and to outdo his more successful twin brother Walter J. Chapman who is a news anchor and always looking for some way to get ahead no matter who he has to step on to do it Happy Chapman will theat and shock Wendall and the dog with Happy Chapman's shock collar Wendall and Happy Chapman soon find and kidnap Odie the dog. Wendall is a new character that was only intr.
