Review of Garfield (2004) by Pantelis A — 08 Aug 2012
I thought that this movie was very well done... I didn't like the comics and was quite reluctant to watch the movie, but when I watched it I found it delightful. One thing I disliked about the movie was the way Garfield was done. I think they should have used a real cat, or at least one more real looking. I mean, this is a real movie, not an animated one. Odie was done very well, and I thought Breckin Meyer and Jennifer Love Hewitt both did very good jobs acting in the movie. I thought that there were no bad actors in the entire film.
All the animals in the movie were very cute and endearing, and the humor was funny... a little slapstick, so I wouldn't recommend it to people who don't like slapstick humor.
Spoiler warning! Another thing I disliked was the idea of an electric collar. I think that was a cruel idea, and didn't help the movie at all. Although Garfield and Odie used it on Happy Chapman at the end of the movie, and were not harmed, I still think that the idea of a shock collar shouldn't have been used at all.
To finish, this is a great movie with good family values, little bad language, and cute animals. I loved it and hope you will too.
8/10.
