As a massive fan of the Garfield pocket books and witty humor, I was slightly disappointed with this film. The plot is probably the worst thing about the whole movie, though it is nearly based of "Here comes Garfield cartoons and book series it still manages to miss the mark and point.

Bill Murray, however, is perfect as the voice of Garfield and is the truest thing about the film, bringing Garfield from the comic's to the real world is odd at first but works amazingly with neat special effects to bring Garfield alive.

Breckin Meyer makes a respectable Jon Arbuckle but isn't geeky or stupid enough and Jennifer Love-Hewitt is the complete opposite to Liz Wilson from the comics. This may appeal to youngsters but anyone who's a fan of Garfield may tolerate the film or be disappointed.

There are one or two moments of true Garfield banter but the film becomes cliche and a little embarrassing and Stephen Tobolwsky is simple just awful. Peter Hewitt does his best against a weak script (Which was co-written by Jim Davis, who should just stick to the comics) but has too many flaws but maybe kids won't notice these and enjoy it.

Thank God for Bill Murray, who is just perfect as Garfield.
